Our goal is for every fifth grader to accept responsibility for his or her own actions in order to enhance self-confidence and to understand that they are ultimately responsible for the types of risks they take. It is our hope that fifth graders will comprehend that taking risks requires:

- looking back at prior decisions

- confirming or changing their findings

- taking responsible risks when confronting unknown elements.

We accomplish this through the central theme of Responsible Exploration which carries throughout their studies. To prepare them for the challenges that await them in middle school and to ease that transition, students have four or five different teachers.

Fifth graders who attend Spring Shadows Elementary are privileged to have the opportunity to receive an education from a group of teachers who truly have a passion for the subjects they teach.
